Dr. Alicia X. Wong
OD, FAAO, FOVDR
Dr. Alicia Wong is a Canadian expat having made Chicago her forever home. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and graduated summa cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed a Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation residency program through the Southern College of Optometry. Along with comprehensive eye care, Dr. Wong enjoys using vision therapy and other techniques to alleviate issues related to sports vision, learning disabilities, developmental abnormalities, and acquired brain injuries. She is committed to continuously advancing her knowledge so she can give the utmost care to patients of all ages. As such she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow (Board Certified in Vision Therapy) of the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association, formerly known as the College of Vision Development (COVD). She is also a member of the College of Syntonic Optometry and American Optometric Association and Tomb and Key Honor Society.
In her free time, she enjoys knitting, hiking, traveling with her husband, and obsessing over her Morkie puppy, Kirby.
Dr. David A. Maze
OD, FAAO, FOVDR
Consultant
Dr. David Maze was born in Elgin, Illinois. He received an OD degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 2003. He completed a Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation residency program at the State University of New York State Optometric Center in Manhattan.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Assn, Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Assn, the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and the Optometric Extension Program. Dr. Maze earned his Fellowship (Board Certification in Vision Therapy) through the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association, formerly known as the College of Vision Development (COVD).. He is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry.
In January 2023, Dr. Maze joined the Southern College of Optometry Faculty as an Assistant Professor and resides in Tennessee with his wife Kristen and their sons James, William, and Patrick. He also remains involved at our practice as a consultant.
Bridget Coleman
Vision Therapy Administrator (VTA)
Bridget grew up in the western suburbs and graduated from Downers Grove South High School.
After high school, Bridget studied medical billing and coding before her love of helping others called her to pursue a career in vision therapy. Bridget started as a Vision Therapist at West Suburban Vision Therapy in 2019 and has now moved into an administrative role at our practice. Bridget considers it an honor and privilege to play a role in helping children and adults receive the quality care we provide. When she’s not working, Bridget and her daughters, Marilyn and Brynn, can be found baking together. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and trying new foods.
Tammy Alberico
COVT
Lead Certified Vision Therapist
Tammy grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Lyons Township high school in La Grange. She is married to Tony and they have two grown children Dominic and Emma. They currently reside in Naperville.
She graduated from Elmhurst University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Art. Recently, she completed her vision therapy certification process (COVT) in April of 2020. She is also a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. Her professional experience includes teaching early childhood for over 20 + years. She also holds a certification as an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analyst) therapist. She loves working with children and making a difference in the lives of families, vision therapy has given her that opportunity once again! She is very excited to be a part of this team.
During her free time she enjoys participating in a book club, outdoor activities, and gardening.
Heather Gordon
Vision Therapist
Heather has an Elementary and Special Education degree from Vanderbilt University. She joins WSVT with experience working in public schools, preschools and as a Developmental Therapist for an Early Intervention program. Heather is drawn to the field of vision therapy for the same reasons she chose her previous endeavors: the opportunity to make meaningful contributions in the lives of others.
For relaxation, Heather finds time for baking, art projects, and walking her Aussiedoodle, Dansby. She and her husband enjoy watching sporting events, especially her son’s college baseball team.

Kira Henderson
Kira was raised in Homer Glen, Illinois and graduated from Lockport Township High School. She went on to study at Columbia College Chicago before entering the medical field as a patient care coordinator. Her love for helping those in need brought her to West Suburban Vision Therapy. She enjoys seeing the real change vision therapy can make in someone's life.
In her free time, she enjoys baking, watching documentaries, and spending time with her cat, Bread!
Michele Kats
Vision Therapist
Michele is a dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience in Lombard District 44, where she began her career teaching second graders. Her commitment to education led her to earn a Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist, fueling her passion for nurturing striving readers until her retirement in May 2024.
Inspired by the transformative effects of vision therapy on her students, Michele transitioned into a role as a vision therapist. This new path enables her to continue helping others by leading exercises that enhance the mind-eye connection and ultimately improving patients' overall quality of life.
In her free time, Michele enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music and audio books and spending time with her husband, their two adult children, and two rescue dogs.
